🌟 The Rarity of Enoch and Elijah: Why We Still Need a Savior 🌟

In the Old Testament, only Enoch and Elijah are described as walking so closely with God that they didn’t die the usual way—God took them.

Out of all the people in thousands of years—Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and more—only two received this distinction.

🧬 That’s a tiny fraction, showing just how rare it is to live in perfect alignment with God using only human effort and the abilities He gave us at creation.

✝️ The Need for a Savior

That rarity points to a deeper truth:
Even with the Yetzer Hatov (inclination for good), humans struggle with the Yetzer Hara (inclination toward selfishness or sin).

📖 Romans 3:23 (reflecting on all of human history):
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Even the greats like Moses (who disobeyed God at Meribah – Numbers 20:12)
and David (who sinned with Bathsheba – 2 Samuel 11)
couldn’t maintain that Enoch-or-Elijah-level righteousness.

🙌 This is where Jesus comes in.

Christians believe Jesus is the Savior—the one who bridged the gap.
He perfectly walked with God as a human, yet also divine, offering a way for the rest of us who can’t hit that mark.

📌 Enoch and Elijah are the exceptions.
Jesus is the solution for the rule.

👣 We Can Still Try

This doesn’t mean we give up!
The ability to do good was baked into us at creation.
Those Old Testament calls to “choose life” or “do good” still stand.

📖 Micah 6:8:
“What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

✨ Their stories aren’t meant to defeat us—they’re meant to inspire us.
We may not be taken up in a fiery chariot,
but we can still strive to walk closely with God.

🕊️ Tying It to Jesus

Jesus doesn’t just save us from failure—He empowers our effort.
Through His life, death, and resurrection, He made it possible to keep walking with God,
this time with help—like the Holy Spirit—that Enoch and Elijah didn’t have spelled out.

✅ Only two did it solo.
🔔 But now, the invitation is open to all.

🔥 We need Jesus because perfection is nearly impossible.
But we shouldn’t stop trying.
That balance—between human limits and divine hope—is what keeps the image of God alive in us.

🔁 Share this if you believe we’re called to walk with God—with effort, grace, and hope.
